Copley High School Athletic Hall of Fame Names Class of 2025 Inductees
COPLEY, OHIO – (October 10, 2025) – Copley High School is pleased to announce its
newest inductees into the Copley High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The Class
of 2025 will be inducted at a ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025.
The 2025 Copley High School Athletic Hall of Fame includes: Gavin Aten (tennis-
class of 2016), Jason Borchik (football, basketball, baseball- class of 2006),
Casey Burns Gillan (softball – class of 2012), Christopher Brennan (soccer,
baseball – class of 2016), Steve Coon (former golf and basketball coach),
Rosario Costanzo (football, wrestling – class of 1966), Wally Frlich (baseball,
basketball, football – class of 1962), Louis Gigliotti III (football, baseball
– class of 2012), Skye Harter (soccer – class of 2015), Dick Hoover (football –
class of 1963), Aregeros Turner (football, basketball, track – class of 2013),
Marcus Wattley (football, basketball – class of 2000).
In addition, the Hall of Fame is inducting Larry Banner as the winner of the
Meritorious Service award for his long time to service to the Copley-Fairlawn
City School district as both a former athletic director and member of the
Copley High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Lastly, Bob Smith will be receiving
the inaugural “Varsity C” award for his athletic achievement after graduating
from Copley High School in 1954 based on his national recognition as a trap
shooter.
“We are thrilled to honor all of these amazing alumni who excelled while they were student-athletes
at Copley High School,” said Superintendent Aimee Kirsch. “We are thankful for their
service and support of our school district’s athletics programs.”
The Copley High School Athletic Hall of Fame will celebrate the Class of 2025 during
the weekend of Dec. 19 and 20. On Dec. 19, the inductees will be recognized
during half-time of the boys basketball game against Barberton. The Hall of
Fame Induction Dinner and Ceremony will be on Saturday evening, December 20 at
St. George Antiochian Church in Fairlawn. Tickets for the dinner and induction
ceremony are $40 per person and reservations are accepted by calling the high
school athletic department at 330-664-4826.
The Copley High School Athletic Hall of Fame was started in 2008 through the
generous support of former Fairlawn mayor and Copley graduate from the Class of
1974, Pete Kostoff. Additionally, former Copley Athletic Director Larry Banner
and former Copley teacher/coach Keith Walker were instrumental to starting the
Hall of Fame, which currently has 130 members.
